I’m Micki Kosman, a digital creator based in Kelowna, BC, with 20 years of building online. I’m the founder of Adapt Lab, a community exploring AI, creativity, longevity, and how we grow in a world that won’t slow down. I’m also the co-founder of The Barefoot Nomad travel site and The Parent Spot recipe blog.

How I Got Here

I started in neuroscience, studying how people think, learn, and decide. After earning my MSc, I moved into technical communication, spending over a decade translating dense scientific and technical information into something people could actually use. I didn’t realize it then, but I was learning how to bridge complexity and clarity. That became the foundation for everything.

In 2008, my husband and I launched The Barefoot Nomad, a travel site that let us build a location-independent life through writing, photography, and a fast-evolving internet. Later came The Parent Spot, our family-focused recipe and lifestyle blog. For nearly twenty years, we built online businesses rooted in curiosity, clarity, and a willingness to experiment as the web shifted beneath us.

Then technology accelerated. My interests expanded into longevity, AI, consciousness, and how humans adapt to rapid change. That curiosity led me to create Adapt Lab on Skool, a community exploring the practical and philosophical sides of emerging technology. It’s where I spend most of my time now: learning, contributing, and studying how tools like AI reshape creativity, communication, and the everyday choices we make.

Today, my work is a blend of everything that came before: neuroscience for understanding humans, technical writing for communicating clearly, online business for building in public, and Adapt Lab for exploring what’s possible next.

I’m also an active member of Toastmasters, where I continually develop my communication and leadership skills. As a participant in longevity communities and groups, I regularly engage in conversations about healthspan, lifespan, and meaningful living.

My goal is simple: stay curious, stay human, and share what I learn along the way.
